Das Aufgabengebiet umfasst u.a.:
The HRP-IAEA project (Living with Radiation: The Role of the International Atomic Energy Agency in the History of Radiation Protection) at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, funded by the European Research Council, is seeking a highly motivated doctoral candidate/research assistant for part-time employment (65%) for 3 years.
Led by Professor Maria Rentetzi, HRP-IAEA explores the role of international organizations and especially of the International Atomic Energy Agency in regulating and standardizing radiation protection on a global scale. We focus especially on the IAEAs technical assistance programs as a key post-war strategy for promoting the atom and supporting applications of civilian atomic energy worldwide; providing standards for use and safety; creating a nuclear order that could support the development of nuclear industry and medicine. The research is highly interdisciplinary and combines methods from history of science, international history, new diplomatic history, and science and technology studies. https://hrp-iaea.org
The successful candidate will explore the historical role of the IAEA in standardizing and regulating the use of nuclear energy in the Global South. He/she is expected to pay attention to the nuclear order that the IAEA shaped in developing countries throughout the post-WWII period. Special attention is given to IAEAs nuclear diplomacy in Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America.
Notwendige Qualifikation
MA degree in history of science, technology or medicine; science and technology studies; political science or other associated fields.
Prior experience of working in a team and of conducting interviews is essential
Advanced computer skills are desirable
Excellent command of written and spoken English
Linguistic competence depending on the case study that will be proposed

Das Aufgabengebiet umfasst u.a.:
Cooperation in the organization, preparation and implementation of teaching and research at the Chair of Science, Technology and Gender Studies (STGS), https://www.stgs.fau.de
Teaching (5 hrs./week) in science and technology studies or related fields
Scientific qualification towards a Habilitation with a research project in the chairs key topics, including science diplomacy
Notwendige Qualifikation
Candidates must hold an academic degree (Master or equivalent) and have completed a PhD in science and technology studies or related fields
Promising research project related to STGS research foci
Willingness and skills for interdisciplinary research and teaching related to STGS research foci
Ability to develop and teach courses for the EELISA European University, https://eelisa.eu
Excellent knowledge of English. Additionally, German is desirable
A structured, responsible and team-oriented way of working

Research assistant (TVL-E13, 50%)
Das Aufgabengebiet umfasst u.a.:
The Chair of Science, Technology and Gender Studies (STGS) at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg is seeking a highly motivated research assistant/project manager for part-time employment (50%) for 2 years. Led by Professor Maria Rentetzi, STGS is currently developing a new educational program on Science and Innovation Diplomacy and aims to establish an executive Science and Innovation Diplomacy Certificate in collaboration with the Technical University of Madrid (UPM).
The successful candidate is expected to support Prof. Rentetzi in designing and implementing the first pilot Science and Innovation Diplomacy program. He/she will
map the field of science and innovation diplomacy,
explore synergies with other educational initiatives in the field,
extend the chairs international and national network and identify possible contributors,
provide periodic curriculum review and renewal,
assist in designing approaches to assess the impact of the pilot curriculum,
coordinate between the FAU and the UPM teams,
handle students admissions,
promote the initiative through social media,
undertake research, debate, and horizon-scanning activities, possibly conduct structured expert interviews and scoping activities such as workshops
compile a final report in German.
Notwendige Qualifikation
MA degree
Experience in the field of science diplomacy and/or science-based policy advice
Excellent organisational and management skills suitable for creating an educational program
Excellent oral and written proficiency in English and German,
Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex scientific issues to various target audiences
Strong interpersonal skills, with experience of building and maintaining strong working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
Experience in facilitating institutional curriculum renewal and review processes is desirable
The position could be combined with a possibility of working towards a PhD degree in the field.
