Prof. Maria Rentetzi at the 2nd European Science Diplomacy Conference
Prof. Maria Rentetzi will moderate the plenary session “Values and Ethics of Science Diplomacy” on Thursday, 18 December 2025, as part of the 2nd European Science Diplomacy Conference.
Organized under the Danish Presidency of the Council of the EU in cooperation with the European Commission, the conference brings together policymakers, scientists, diplomats, business leaders and civil society to reflect on Europe’s role as a global science and technology leader committed to peace, multilateralism and the Sustainable Development Goals.
During the session, Prof. Rentetzi will guide a conversation with an exceptional panel: Lidia Brito (UNESCO), Cardinal Peter Turkson (Pontifical Academy of Sciences), József Pálinkás (former President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences) and Vaughan Turekian (National Academies, USA).
The discussion will explore the ethical principles and shared values that should underpin science diplomacy, which is an increasingly important topic in today’s rapidly shifting geopolitical and scientific landscape.
The conference is free to attend, offered in a hybrid format, and open to anyone interested in strengthening Europe’s science diplomacy capacity.
